Dear editor,
One of the most important components of successful crime prevention is education, so with that in mind, the City of Selma Police Department is once again soliciting the community’s support for the 5th Annual School Assistance Drive (Police Assisting with School Supplies) P.A.S.S.
We are requesting the participation of citizens, business, government and faith-based groups in an effort to equip the children of our community with the essentials to embark on a successful school year.
Please bring all donations to the Selma Police Department on or before Friday, July 31 at 1300 Alabama Avenue.
All items collected will be distributed at the Back to School Festival/COPS and Kids Day on Saturday, August 2 at Bloch Park from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Supplies will be distributed to children in grades K-12 on a first come, first serve basis while they are available.
For further information or for pick-ups for school supplies, please contact Lt. Natasha Fowlkes at (334) 874-5261 or (334) 375-1554.
William T. Riley III
Selma Chief of Police
