CCA’s Murphy wins 200-meter dash in Mississippi track meet

CLINTON, Miss. — The Concordia College Alabama track and field team continued its season Saturday with a meet at Mississippi College.
Kiwauna Murphy placed first in the women’s 200 meter dash, but she was the only Hornets athlete to place first in a competition.
Despite only one first place finish to show for it, the Hornets had numerous other athletes finish highly in events.
The women’s 4×100 meter relay team — which includes Nascri Hinds, Kiwauna Murphy, Keiana Richardson and Adrina Johnson — finished second and Hinds finished third in the women’s 100 meters.
Adrina Johnson also placed fifth in the women’s 400 meters.
The Concordia men also had a successful showing, with Carlos James placing second in the men’s javelin throw and Andre Millet placing right behind him in third.
Jonathan Farelus placed third in the men’s shotput and the men’s 4×100 men of Yosmani Patterson, Charel Mafoua, Damien Samuel and Frederick Harris Jr. placed fourth.
Mikal Hatcher placed 5th in the men’s 400 meters and Dijon Vaughans placed fifth in men’s shotput and sixth in the discus throw.
Fredrick Harris, Jr. placed eighth in the men’s 200 meters and fifth in the men’s long jump.
The Hornets will finish their season Saturday, April 26 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
