Ellwood Christian 63, John Essex 53

The Ellwood Christian boys varsity team defeated John Essex 63-53 Friday night.

Jalen Furlow led the Eagles with 17 points.

Bo Parker also added 16 points and 16 rebounds for Ellwood Christian.

“Free throws were a key difference in this game,” Ellwood Christian coach Darrell Walker said. “After the Selma loss we went back to the drawing board and worked on our free throws.”

The Ellwood Lady Eagles lost 53-17 to John Essex.

 

Morgan Academy 75, Southern Academy 59

GREENSBORO  — Morgan Academy won its opening game in the Southern Academy basketball tournament Thursday night 75-59.

The Senators were led by Dalton Lee, who scored 24 points and added nine rebounds. Ford Manderson also added 22 points and Connor Henderson added 15 points and nine rebounds.

The Senators will take on Glendale Academy Saturday in their second game of the tournament.
