Ellwood Christian was unable to overcome a one-point first quarter in a 46-31 loss to Central Hayneville Friday night.
The Eagles actually outscored Hayneville over the last three quarters, but after falling behind 17-1 at the end of the opening period, it was too little, too late.
“It was a good effort and I’m really proud of the girls,” Ellwood head coach James Spears said. “Our first five games weren’t pretty, they were blowouts, but we stayed in this one and fought hard. We’re getting there.”
Ebony Simpson led the Eagles with 24 points.
