You try finding a Christmas gift that glistens and sparkles for just $5 and see how difficult it is.

Thanks to the Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s Auxiliary, that task is made a lot easier with their annual “$5 Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories Sale.”

The sale, considered the most successful fundraising effort of the year for the Auxiliary, is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8 at the Vaughan Regional Medical Center Tower classroom.

“We will have Alabama and Auburn jewelry, necklaces, watches, bags, scarves and blouses.” Event Chair Rosie Dunklin said. “Everything is $5.”

Dunklin said that hundreds have attended the November sale in the past, making it the biggest sale every year. The sale attracts holiday shoppers looking for the Christmas gifts, Dunklin said.

The sale will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

Shoppers can get a great deal, knowing that profits will be used to fund Vaughn Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and community needs.

“We use it for anything the hospital needs,” Shirley Pugh, president of Vaughn Regional Auxiliary, said. “We have also done projects outside of the hospital.”

Dunklin said the money would fund scholarships for high school students, gifts for new mothers who deliver at the local hospital and local food banks, among other things.

Pugh said the 2-day sale is highly anticipated every year.

The hours have been extended this year to accommodate Vaughn Regional Medical Center employees, who normally don’t get off work in time to enjoy the sale.

“People are constantly calling for the time and sale,“ Pugh said. “The jewelry and the uniform sale are the biggest of the year. ”

Dunklin said the Auxiliary is thankful for all of the support they have received from the community.

“We appreciate them shopping with us,” she said.
