The Dollar General, located at 701 Rosevelt Ave. in Selmont, was robbed at gunpoint Monday night.
“Around 8:50 p.m. an officer and detective of the Selma Police Department responded to a robbery at the Dollar General,” Lt. Johnny King, with the Selma Police Department, said.
King said an unknown black male entered the store with his gun drawn.
“He had a gun drawn when he went in the store and then he went inside the office and demanded money from the cashier,” King said. “Then once he did that, he left with an unknown amount of money. We don’t know how much he took yet.”
The suspect took the money and fled the scene running.
The information the police received, came from the cashier, King said, and they currently are reviewing surveillance tapes.
“[What we know],” King said is, “an unknown black male came in the store with the gun. He went into the store office and he took the cashier back there in the office and demanded that she open the safe.”
Authorities are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the robbery to call 874-6611 or CrimeStoppers at (866) 44-CRIME (442-7463).
