Just before 8 a.m. Saturday, Lavonte Cardell Conn, 19, reportedly robbed the Shell Station on Broad Street. The Selma Police Department captured and arrested Conn less than two hours after the robbery in the 2600 block of Citizens Parkway.
“Officers spotted the getaway vehicle in the 2600 block of Citizen Parkway,” Lt. Johnny King with the Selma Police Department said.
King said the Shell Station was robbed at gunpoint, and an undetermined amount of money was stolen.
Conn was booked and transported to the Dallas County Jail under a $1 million bond and was charged with first-degree robbery.
First-degree robbery is a Class A felony in Alabama and is punishable from 10 to 99 years in the state prison.
King said that while Conn is in custody, the case is still under investigation.
