Clarence H. Smitherman, Jr. was born on November 11, 1949 in Selma, Alabama, the son of Clarence Harry Smitherman, Sr. and Jackie A. Holley (Smitherman-Bradley). He attended school at Albany High School Albany, Georgia. He joined the United States Navy in October of 1968. He was Honorably Discharged as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class in April 1973 serving on the USS Tidewater and USS Yosemite.

He married Kay L. (Herren) Lipham in Leesburg, Georgia in 1969.

He was an avid cattleman, horseman and ranch foreman for Oak Hill Farms in Smithville, Georgia, Sanders Hereford Ranch in Douglasville, Georgia and Coney Lake Plantation in Leesburg, Georgia. His love of the great outdoors brought him joyous employment as a hunting guide, horseman and birddog trainer.

Clarence’s many God-given talents: drawing, painting along with taxidermy captured the outdoors and wildlife. He treasured sharing his talents with his two children, three grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
