“I feel like we as teenagers should have a positive influence on younger kids because God really calls us to reach out to them and set an example to them in the way Jesus sets the example for us,” she said.

Working one-on-one with elementary school students, teenager Will Wendland said, also shows them there are people who care.

“There are so many people that act one way at church and another when they are around other people,” he said.

“We want to show the younger people there are people in the community who care about them and that Jesus loves them just as much as everybody else.”

The dedication of the teenagers that made the event possible was very encouraging, Smith said.

“It has been amazing to watch our teenagers do all of this because they put it all together,” he said.

“It’s been incredible to see them take what they have learned this weekend and apply it to today.”
