Residents who have not paid their property taxes will have the opportunity to do so this week despite the New Year’s holiday.

According to representatives of the Dallas County Tax Assessor’s office, they will remain open for an extra day heading into the holiday weekend.

The Dallas County Courthouse will be closed Dec. 30 and Jan. 2, but the Tax Collector’s office, Tax Assessor’s office and Recording Office will be open Friday, Dec. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

According to courthouse officials, property taxes are actually due on Oct. 1, but become delinquent on Jan. 1.

Mobile home owners actually face an earlier delinquency date in November, which means property taxes paid in this regard are already subject to a $10 late fee.

Property taxes can be paid at the Tax Collector’s office in the Dallas County Courthouse by cash, check or money order.

Taxes can also be mailed in with a check or money order to Dallas County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 987, Selma, Al., 36702.

Payments must be postmarked before the due date.

Online payments can also be accessed at dallascountyproperty-tags.com.
