Kickoff will get Selma moving

Dear editor,
On August 25th, over 200 children and adults turned out for the Let’s Move! Selma kickoff at Phoenix Park in downtown Selma. Participants danced to “The Wobble” and worked up a sweat to exercise routines. They had a lot of fun while learning how to get healthy and stay fit.
The event would not have been possible without the many hours that went into planning and coordinating and without the support of the individuals, organizations and businesses who donated water, apples, balloons, equipment, supplies, and promotional materials. At the risk of leaving out someone we won’t try to name them all here but we would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of the volunteers and donors who worked to make this city-wide initiative an outstanding success.
September is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month in Selma. Your readers can learn more about what Let’s Move! Selma is doing to tackle the epidemic of childhood obesity and about upcoming events by visiting our website at www.selma-al.gov/letsmove or by connecting with us on Facebook.
And, if they weren’t lucky enough to be at the kickoff, they can also view dozens of photos and a video of their fellow citizens enjoying themselves on a beautiful afternoon in Selma, Alabama. Let’s Move! Selma
