Residents should offer up thanks and offer help

Dear editor,

To the citizens of Selma, bow your head and say a prayer to the one true God to thank Him for sparing us through the most devastating storm system that Alabama has seen.

For being such an unrepentant society, we have been truly blessed to survive.

Our hearts and prayers go out to people who have lost so much.

For just awhile, stop and remember, then and go in your pickets for a monetary donation to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. If everyone in town sent $20, it would add up.

For a moment stop the bickering between the races, the haves and the have nots, the Democrats and the Republicans and realize God is the one to fear and worship and realize we can be wiped from the planet in a few minutes.

Rejoice that our city is still standing and search our hearts to know that most of what we know to criticize or malign is irrelevant compared to the loss of life and property that fellow Alabamians have suffered and truly pray for them and their plight.
