All citizens and especially all Selma business leaders need to attend the public hearing scheduled for the I-85 Extension Study.

The meeting will be held Wednesday July 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carl C. Morgan, Jr. Convention Center.

Even though we all want the interstate to come through Selma, there are two alternative routes that will be presented.

It is imperative that Selma business leaders be represented at the meeting to ensure the most cost effective and beneficial route through Selma be chosen. The northern route is the best route for Selma businesses because it would divert industrial business traffic through our city, which would benefit all the hotels and restaurants as well as other businesses.

If the business leaders are not present at this meeting, a less than desired route, the southern route, will likely be chosen and it would virtually leave Selma and its businesses out of the loop.
