SELMA — The football camp being hosted by Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson will have several notable athletes on hand, including two former University of Alabama stars who now play for the Bengals.

Johnson, a Dallas County High School graduate, has recruited former Crimson Tide defensive lineman Antwan Odom and former Tide offensive lineman Andre Smith, both of whom are from the state.

“It means a great deal to me that will come help out,” Johnson said. “It shows the type of character they have and the type of people that come out of the state of Alabama.”

Johnson said other notables, including current Auburn and Alabama-Birmingham players are committed to participating and he is working on securing from current Alabama players as well.

The players will teach the participants of the camp the drills they run every day in practice and help work on the fundamentals.

“It should be pretty easy from our side,” Johnson said. “The main thing will be making sure the kids get it right. We will be there to teach and correct them on footsteps and hand placement, and how to bend.”

The camp will be for ages 8-17 and will be May 8 at Memorial Stadium.

The registration fee is $25 and the deadline to sign up is April 23.
