SSGT Laurence “Larry” Towns, 55, of Selma, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Mobile. Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 20, 2008 at New Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darrel Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memorial under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Inc.
She is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Towns, Sr.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 25 years, Janice H. Towns; his children, Laurence Towns, Jr., Matese Towns and John Michael Towns, all of Selma; a god-daughter, Dr. Angela (Johnnie)
Moore-Jones of Dixie Mills; a god-son, Ryan Washington of Selma; his mother, Rosa Towns; two brothers, Thomas (Karen) Towns Jr. of Selma and Steven Towns of New York; one sister, Helene (Dr. Lonnie) Towns-Felton of Selma; his mother-in-law, Amanda Jones of Selma; his father-in-law, Willie (Ocie) Hobbs, Sr. of Newburn, Al.; three brothers-in-laws, Nolan (Brenda) Hobbs of Stone Mountain, GA, Willie (Elois) Hobbs of Selma and Fredrick (Barnetha) Jones of Selma; three sisters-in-laws, Frances Diane Coles, Beatrice Jones and Irra Robinson, all of Selma; six grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
