MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Secretary of State Condelezza Rice is receiving the first honorary degree conferred by Air University in Montgomery. The Birmingham native was selected for the honor because of her contributions to international relations and national security. The ceremony is being held today at Maxwell Air Force Base with several hundred Air University students and faculty attending.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – A man was seriously injured when he was stabbed during a street robbery early this morning. Troy Strickland told police two men approached him demanding money just after 3 a.m. on a Huntsville street. He was stabbed and taken to Huntsville Hospital, where his condition was not immediately available.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Montgomery police are urging drivers in the city to be particularly cautious when getting pulled over after a woman experienced a suspicious stop over the weekend. Police say the woman was pulled over by a dark-colored SUV early yesterday morning. The vehicle was being driven by a a white male in his 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, and had a single blue light on its dash.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – A mother and son were killed after their vehicle flipped and skidded into a Huntsville McDonald’s parking lot over the weekend. Ethel Wyatt, 79, and her son, William Wyatt, 44, both of Fayetteville, Tenn., were killed in the crash yesterday afternoon. Police spokesman Wendell Johnson said both were wearing their seat belts and died at the scene.
