City council to address claims of harassment

The Selma City Council will convene in a rescheduled meeting today at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
The council will address a harassment memo issued by Mayor James Perkins Jr. on last week to members of the council.
Perkins said city employees had complained about the behavior of
councilmen Cecil Williamson and Reid Cain, citing the employees were being harassed and intimidated.
In the memo Perkins asked that Evans intervene and that action be taken to correct the matter.
Evans and several other councilmembers were attending the National League of Cities conference in Washington at the time the memo was released.
Cain, Williamson
and councilman Sam Randolph did not attend.

The noise ordinance, a reoccurring item, will be addressed also.
Pinpointing no specific ward where the problems seems to be worse than others, Evans said, &8220;the noise is everywhere.&8221;
