Bertha Dean Earnest

Bertha Dean Earnest, age 77, of Selma, passed away, Monday, November 14, 2005 at Park Place Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 17, 2005, 10.00 a.m. at Elkdale Baptist Church with Rev. Al Finch and Rev. Micah Gandy officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16, 2005, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Earnest, Jr. of Selma, AL; two sons, Blake (Jan) Earnest of Montgomery, AL and Clint Earnest of Smyrna, GA; one daughter, Dayle Nutter of McDonough, GA and three grandchildren, Brian Earnest, Josh Gunning and Ashley Brock and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aubrey Rush, Darrell Earnest, Brian Earnest, Josh Gunning, Clint Earnest and Blake Earnest.

Mrs. Earnest was President of the Selma Pilot Club, President of Elkdale Garden Club, President of Pink Ladies Volunteer Club at local hospitals, and a longstanding member of Elkdale Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir, Sunday School Teacher and various other committees.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elkdale Capitol Fund, c/o Elkdale Baptist Church, 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma,

AL 36701 or the charity of your choice.

William Clint (Bill) York

William Clint (Bill) York, 56, of Bessemer died November 14, 2005 at VA Hospital in Birmingham.

Services are scheduled for November 17, 2005 at 10a.m. at Brown Bessemer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife Debbie York of Bessemer; parents Merle York Nix and the late Henry Shelby York of Selma; two sons Billy York and Jason York of Bessemer; one daughter Tammy Jones of Selma; three grandchildren Hannah, Cheyenne and Tiffany; three brothers, Gene York, Faron York and George York; three sisters Vina Bearden, Nancy McDonald and Karen Helms all of Selma.

Visitation will be held Wednesday November 16 from 5-8p.m. at the Chapel of Brown Bessemer Funeral Home.

James Lester Lawson

James Lester Lawson, age 84, of Valley Grande, AL passed away November 14, 2005 at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be Thursday, November 17, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Charles Sullivan officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lawson of Valley Grande, AL; one son, James Donald (Rachel) Lawson of Corpus Christi, TX; one daughter, Laura Marrow of Valley Grande, AL; one brother, William Irby Lawson and 5 grandchildren, Robbie, Ana and Alden Marrow and Sandra and Thomas Lawson and one great grandson, Chandler Lawson.

Pallbearers will be Alden Marrow, Obbie Marrow, Matt Moore, Scott Moore, Ludie Moore and Charles Moore.

Charlie Batson Harris

Charlie Batson Harris, 85, born January 26, 1920, died in Cullman, Al on November 14, 2005.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00, Thursday, November 17, 2005 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. David Thomas officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be Wednesday, November 16, 2005 from 6-8p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Annie Jean Hunter and Vicki J. (Woodrow) Fancher, four sons; Jimmy B. (Barbara) Harris, Glenn A. (Marion) Harris, C. Kent (Irene) Harris and R. Scott (Kim) Harris, 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Two sisters; Lucille Norris and Fannie Lou Godwin.

Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his wife, Louvenia C. Harris and a son, William Wayne Harris.
