The Concordia Lady Hornets battled a physical Martin Methodist College Ladyhawk team and dropped their second game of the season 70 – 66 in overtime.
Concordia could only score four points in the last four minutes of regulation and allowed MMC to score nine to knot the game up at 59 all.
The Ladyhawks packed the ball inside to All-American Toya Torian who scored 8 of the 11 over time team points.
The Lady Hornets found it difficult to match up.
The game was close much of the first half before Concordia went on an 14 – 2 tear to close out the half with an 33 – 24 lead.
MMC used the post up presence of Torian to get back in the game.
Concordia was led by Jazzlyn Prince who had 17 points.
Catrina Fincher added 14 including four
three-pointers.
DaShawn Butler also dropped in 14.
Candace Reynolds contributed 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Lady Hornets, 0-2, will be back on the hardwood tonight against Stillman. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
Following Friday’s game against Stillman, the Lady &8216;Nets will finish their homestand by hosting the ladies of Bellhaven College on Nov. 4. Tipoff for that game is set for 5:30 p.m., as well.
From there, Concordia takes to the road for a return trip to Stillman on Nov. 7 and plays host to Spring Hill College one night later on Nov. 8.
The Lady Buzz will go on a five game road swing which takes them from Judson on Nov. 10 to the SUNO Classic on Nov. 18-19. They return home on Jan. 19 for a rematch with Judson.
