Morgan and Pike fans were treated to some fireworks in the opening round of the AISA

area playoffs.

After a pair of tight games in the regular season, the teams battled into double overtime Friday afternoon.

Morgan took the win 45-40.

Morgan got great games from their big guns.

Elizabeth Elliott and Katie Taylor each had a double-double.

Elliott had 17 points, 22 rebounds and three steals. Katie Taylor had 15 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.

Ginger Gaines added seven points and four rebounds. Laura Whitney Bennett added three points and 11 rebounds

Candice Ward had three points.

Blevins credited his team’s defense in the second half to the team’s big win.

With the win, Morgan was set to play Fort Dale for the Area Championship on Saturday night.

Blevins singled out the play of Claire Wilkinson, Elizabeth Watters and Kyser Youngblood.
