Joe Bell
Joe Bell, 79, of Selma, Alabama died December 28, 2005. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Walker Mortuary.
Ceasar Doyle Jr.
Ceasar Doyle Jr., of Huston, Texas passed December 2, 2005. He was born in Selma, Alabama May 10, 1927. He was laid to rest on December 7, 2005.
After graduating from Keith High School in Orrville, Alabama he went on to serve his county as a merchant marine for 25 years.
He leaves to cherish a devoted wife Ruby Robertson Doyle; two brothers Ernest L. Doyle of Selma and John W. Doyle of Bessemer; two daughters, Tarita (Darrion) Felix and Tahita Doyle; one son Ceasar Doyle III; five grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Eva Pearl Edwards
Eva Pearl Edwards, age 84, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005 in Jackson, TN.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Interment followed in New Live Oak Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday, December 26, 2005 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Campbell and Lawrence Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards was survived by two daughters, Judy (Roy) Smitherman of Valley Grande, AL and Jean (Ben) Booker of Jackson, TN; one stepdaughter, Reba Wells of Hope Hull, AL; two stepsons, Dan (Carolyn) Edwards and Earl (Helen) Edwards, both of Selma, AL; four grandchildren, Ray (Kim) Smitherman of Valley Grande, AL, Nancy (Roland) Griffin of Valley Grande, AL; Joy McCuiston of Paducah, KY and Terry Jean Booker of Hardin, KY; sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Valley Grande Baptist Church Building Fund, 48 County Road 16, Valley Grande, AL 36703.
Mary Charles Sullivan McNeill
Mary Charles McNeill died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in Selma in a local hospital.
Grave side services will be held Thursday, December 29th at 1:00 P.M. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Reverend George Sedberry and Dr. William Gardner officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
She is survived by her children George Arthur Sullivan, Jr. (Cindi) of Hope Hull, Charles Samuel Sullivan (Debbie) of Jackson and William Andrew Sullivan (Hallie) of Dothan, grandchildren Ward Sullivan of Montgomery, Mark Harold of Hayneville, Lori Kraft of Atlanta, David (Katie) Sullivan of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Liza and Ty Sullivan of Jackson, and Laura Bess and William Sullivan of Dothan and great grandchildren Bishop Reeder of Atlanta and Larry and Sullivan Harold of Greenville, step children Pat Spell( Ray) of Macon, Georgia and Mike McNeill (Jan) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sister, Nell Calhoun Edwards of Selma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Ward Sullivan, David Sullivan, and Mark Harold, nephew Ralph M. Hardy, Jr., and Al Washington, Cecil M. Yarbrough, B Kincey Green, Jr. and James Burt Odom.
Mary Charles or “Charlie,” as she was affectionately called, was born August 12, l922 to Mattie and David Young Calhoun of Burkville.
She was preceded in death by her husbands George Arthur Sullivan, David McNeill, and son David Francis Sullivan.
Mary Charles was a faithful member of Church Street United Methodist Church, The Mary Sweeney Friendship Sunday School Class and The Vaughn Hospital Auxiliary. For many years she served as Tax Assessor for Lowndes County.

Horace Pope Sr.
Horace Pope Sr., 77, of Selma, Alabama died December 27, 2005 at a Selma hospital. Services are scheduled for December 31, 2005 at 12:00 noon at New Morning Star at Marion Junction with Rev. R.L. Tolbert. Burial will be at Pernell Cemetery in Marion Jucntion. Lewis Brothers directing.
