Seleta Belle Cook Llewellyn

Seleta Belle Cook Llewellyn passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. Seleta was born February 26, 1921, to George Martin Cook and Mary Marguerite Irwin Cook.

She was predeceased in death by her parents; sister, Mary Cook Hicks (Glenn); and brother, George M. Cook (Ella Mae).
She is survived by her children, Carson Llewellyn (Gail), Becky Llewellyn, and Lee Llewellyn (Filip Loncke); grandchildren Marguerite Deel (Justin) and Becca Hansell; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Seleta attended Valley Grande School for elementary school and Selma High School. She received both her B.S. and Masters degrees in Home Economics from the University of Alabama.

After raising her family in New Orleans, La., Seleta returned home to Selma where she was an elder and clerk of Session of Valley Creek Presbyterian Church. She was also active in the local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of 1812, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Butterfly Capital Garden Club, and West End Study Club. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Valley Creek Church cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Valley Creek Church at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Cecil Williamson officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Honorary pallbearers are George Cook, Bill Cook, John Cook and Justin Deel.
