Mr. David “Dooley” Smith, 72, resident of Charleston, West VA, formerly of Selma, passed away November 16, 2012 at Charleston Area Medical Center. Services will be held November 24, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church officiated by Pastor L.L. Ruffin. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service of Selma.

He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Sarah Smith.

Survivors include spouse Penny Rogers; three sons, Willie Watson of Atlanta, GA., Reginald Watson of Charleston, West Virginia, and Billy Wayne Rogers of Selma, AL; seven daughters, Deloris Smiley, Gloria Smiley, Teresa Smiley of Selma, AL, Ballery Johnson, Patricia Watson of Selma, AL, Shelia Reynold of Mobile, AL, Pamela Smith of El Paso, Texas; four brothers, Perry Smith of Pahokee, FL.,Cladton (Earlene) Smith, Lonnie (Willie Mae) Smith, and Charles (Mary) Smith of Selma, AL; four sisters, Barbara Smith, Betty Smith, Martha Smith of Selma, AL, Sarah Ologide of Landover, MD.; twenty grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; special niece Jennie Beard. Pallbearers will be nephews, grandchildren, and friends. The body will lie in state at the Mt. Ararat Church at 12:00.
