The Morgan Academy Senators are hoping to continue their winning streak when they take the field on Friday.

The Senators (2-0, 1-0) will travel to Camden to face the Wilcox Academy Wildcats (0-2) Friday at 7 p.m. in a non-region AISA contest.

Bob Taylor, head football coach of Morgan Academy, said the Wildcats are a strong running team that will present a tough challenge.

“They’re big, strong, physical and they’re going to run right at us,” Taylor said. “They run the good, old-fashioned inside-outside veer. They’re a power team that’s big up front. They get after it and they have a good football team.”

Taylor said one thing that has helped the Senators in their preparation is the fact that they’ve met the Wildcats before.

“One good thing is we’ve played them in the spring, we’ve played them in the fall jamboree, so we have familiarity with them,” Taylor said. “So we’re recognizing what they’re doing a little better each day. What they do is so tough to teach. It’s a hard offense to stop when it’s run correctly.”

Taylor added the Senators will need to maintain the consistency they have the past couple of weeks and execute well on offense in order to continue their winning ways.

“We’ve got to execute on offense, make sure we hold our blocks and do the little things right that we’ve done right the last couple weeks,” Taylor said. “We’ve got to make sure we know who we’re going to get, understanding what defenses they could be throwing at us and just executing our offense. Defensively, it’s about playing assignment football and doing what you’re supposed to do, knowing who you have on the option attack and making tackles.”
