New Live Oak Cemetery, Coon said, is not facing the same issues because it has seen fewer burials through the years.
“The New Live Oak has approximately 21,109 grave spaces,” he said. “We have 9,837 that are used. That means there are 8,993 have been sold, but not used. That leaves 22,080 in the New Live Oak that are available for sale.”
Potentially, Coon said New Live Oak has spaces available to anyone for 10-plus years.
“Basically, you have only half of that cemetery that is being used since it opened in 1925,” he said. “I do not see out there as a real issue.”
