MARION JUNCTION &045; Mr. Lewis Patrick &8220;Pat&8221; Felts, 67 died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, at Pineview Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Cory and the Rev. Debrah Born officiating and Lawrence Brown -Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Felts is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ona Campbell Felts of Marion Junction: daughter, Christy F. Hobson (Glen); two granchildren, Jackie F. Hobson and Steven L. Hobson, all of Alabaster.

Mr. Felts was an employee at Bush Hog for 48 years.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Barrett Road United Methodist Church or

a favorite charity.

Ms. Catherine Parnell Jones

WAKE FOREST, N.C. &045; Ms. Catherine Parnell Jones, a resident at Hillside Nursing Home for more than seven years, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, Dec. 28, 2007.

A memorial service will be held Monday at Bright Funeral Home. After cremation, she will be interred at the Parnell family plot in Fairview Cemetery in Samson.

When life handed Catherine lemons, she made lemonade. A devastating stroke in Lafayette, Colo., from a fairly routine procedure on Feb. 7, 2000, left her paralyzed and without her speech&045;but not without her voice. The day before her stroke, she had taken a group of senior citizens shopping for groceries. She was a fantastic seamstress who created beautiful quilts for her family and lap quilts for those in nursing homes.

In June 2000, Catherine began a new chapter in her life at Hillside here in Wake Forest.

Ms. Jones was the sixth of nine children of William Henry Parnell and Bama Victoria Edwards. She was born in Coffee County, Ala., on Nov. 23, 1939 into a musical family that played guitar, fiddle and bass. As teenagers, her eldest brother Bill Jr. formed a country and western band with his siblings.

The troupe performed at county fairs, church socials, sock hops and on country music radio shows famous for that time period. Many would hear Miss Catherine singing as she scooted around Hillside checking in on fellow residents. She longed to be an actress when she grew up.

Ms. Jones is survived by a daughter and son whom she graciously shared with her older sister, the late Jerri Parnell Wade, Wanda Jones Wade (Subir) Mukherjee, formerly of Selma and Anthony (Tony) Scott (Tabitha) Wade, Selma. She is also survived by her younger children Maria Antonia Colon, New York, and Sergio Colon, Phenix City,

and her former husband Richard H. Jones, Greenville, Maine with whom she maintained a friendship with for more than 40 years.

Surviviors include sisters Rudine Parnell (Labourn) Norris, Opp, Edna Parnell Sines, Little Rock, Ark., and Audrey Grace Parnell (Maynard) England, Oklahoma City, Okla. In addition, she is survived by grandsons Jacob Wade Mukherjee, Vikram Kane Mukherjee, Kieran Luke Mukherjee, all of Wake Forest, Justin Scott Wade, Selma,

and one granddaughter Marissa

as well as several cousins and 17 nieces and nephews.

Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her partner Sergio Colon, Sr, Chicago; sisters, Myrtis Hodge, Maxine Parnell Moore, Jereldine Parnell Wade; two brothers, William Henry Parnell, Jr., Willie Foy Parnell, and dear nieces Sharon Hodge and Deborah Dianna Moore.

The family expresses its sincere gratitude to the staff of Hillside Nursing Home, residents and their families for the loving attention and affection they bestowed on &8220;Miss Catherine.&8221; She loved you all.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to The Koinonia Foundation, P.O. Box 200, Wake Forest, NC 27588, which helps fund local non-profits serving Wake Forest such as Tri-Area Ministries and Wake County Hospice.

Mrs. Sarita Frances Turk Evans

Mrs. Sarita Frances Turk Evans, 45, of Selma, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at a hospital.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller’s Funeral Service’s chapel with the Rev. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Ellwood cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Earl; her mother, Beatrice Turk; a son, Deon Letrell Turk; a step-daughter, Nicole Sheppard; three sisters, Debra Strong, Christy Carter and Sarone Turk; a grandchild, Thomas Zavion; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mrs. Fannie M. Irby

Fannie M. Irby, 72, a Selma resident, passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.

Funeral services are noon, Monday, from Ebenezer Baptist Church with Pastor F.D. Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn memory Garden with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Doc; 11 children; two step-sons; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
