Cedric Charles Fuller, 24, led Selma police officers on a chase through downtown Thursday in the sweltering afternoon heat.

Authorities say Fuller, of Selma, drove through the stop sign at Union Street and McLeod Avenue.

Officer James Bevel attempted to stop Fuller for the minor infringement.

As the 1978 Chevy Blazer sped off, Bevel alerted officers that he was in hot pursuit of the vehicle.

Police chased the suspect onto Lapsley Street, heading north towards Jeff Davis Avenue. He turned onto Philpot Avenue where he made a u-turn. Back on Lapsley, he turned onto Minter Avenue where the chased ended.

During the chase, the suspect continued to run stop signs and endanger other drivers on the road.

Fuller bailed out of the Blazer a block before the truck crashed into a fence and wall on 818 Minter Ave.

Fuller barreled through the residential area at speeds over 60 miles per hour, authorities said.

Police also charged Fuller with running a stop sign, no proof of insurance, reckless driving, no driver&8217;s license, and resisting arrest.

Police booked Fuller into the Selma City Jail under two $500 bonds. He made bond and was released Thursday afternoon.
