Morgan used an 8-1 run to take control of a back-and-forth affair and earn a 46-33 win over Prattville Christian on Tuesday.

Morgan shot an abysmal 1-for-17 in the game’s opening quarter, but the defense kept the Senators in contention.

“We started a little slow,” said Morgan coach Robert Andress.

Leading 23-19 with five minutes left in the third quarter, Caitlin Henderson, Brook Robertson and Sarah Hughey had a hand in the run that put the Senators in control with a 31-20 lead at the 1:39 mark.

The Panthers didn’t threaten throughout the final period, and the Senators matched Prattville bucket-for-bucket and kept their own mistakes to a minimum to secure the win.

“Our defense got better at the end,” said Andress. “Defense is our best thing.”

Whitney Norton led the Senators with 11 points, and Hughey finished with nine. Savannah Hamilton led the Panthers with 13 points.
