Selma man murdered Saturday on Lauderdale Street

The Selma Police Department is investigating a murder that took place on Saturday morning.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford and Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson that Keterione Golfsby, 21, was shot during an apparent shootout at the 1300 block of Lauderdale Street. He eventually died from the gunshot head.

“Officers responded to the 1300 block of Lauderdale Street around 9:30 Saturday morning in reference to an accident,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, they discovered a black man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Baptist South where he later died from his injuries.”

The SPD did not name a suspect and the incident remains under investigation.

This is the 14th murder in Selma of 2021, four more than last year’s total.
