Samaritan’s Purse assisting tornado victims in Dallas County

An international Christian relief organization will spend the week in Dallas County to assist tornado victims.

Members of Samaritan’s Purse is staying at Northside Baptist Church to bring relief to families impacted by severe weather last week. The organization brought two trucks and full of supplies to assist.

A tornado was on the ground in Burnsville last Wednesday. Three homes were damaged, power lines and countless trees were down on Highway 14 and throughout Selma.

“We find it as an opportunity to provide encourage and be the wind beneath their wings,” Samaritan’s Purse Program Manager Shannon Dailey said. “We love them and we want them to know that Jesus loves them.”

Samaritan’s Purse Assistant Program Manager Krissa Ryan said it’s important to heal communities and promote Jesus’ name.

“Everything we do is motivated by Jesus,” Ryan said. “For us, it’s a way to provide help in the area.”

Northside Baptist Church member Kathy Smith said Samaritan’s Purse employees were offered to stay at homes, but they must stay at a church.

“Everything I do is about spreading God’s love,” Smith said.
