Veterans Day wasn’t the only holiday celebrated over the weekend.

Outside the state of Alabama, the rest of the nation celebrated a holiday on Sunday: LSU defeated Alabama 46-41 to take control of the SEC Football Championship race.

A similar party occurred on Jan. 8 when Clemson routed Alabama 44-16 to win the national championship.

I’m sure the national media is rejoicing like the Louisiana media did over the Crimson Tide’s fall from the top.

I was wrong about the “Game of the Century Part II” not living up to the hype. It was one of the best games I’ve attended. It should be a candidate for college football game of the year.

To LSU’s credit, the Tigers (9-0, 5-0) came in and set the tone early. Quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa put on a show. Burrow took the lead in the Heisman Trophy and I’d be shocked if he’s not hoisting the trophy on Dec. 14.

Burrow and Tagovailoa will give the NFL it’s deepest crop of quarterback prospects I’ve seen in years.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either signal-caller, but I’d like to see Burrow and Tagovailoa each sit a year and learn the rigors of the NFL before starting.

First-round quarterbacks have a 50-50 success rate in the NFL. I believe Burrow and Tagovailoa are better prospects than Blaine Gabbert, Joey Harrington, Akili Smith and Andre Ware were when they all entered the NFL.

I saw the message boards and Facebook posts from irate Alabama fans over the heartbreaking defeat.

I get that the Crimson Tide Nation is upset over the thoughts of likely not playing for a national championship.

Alabama will need plenty of upsets to occur over the next few weeks and win out to have a shot at the national semifinals.

One post that irritated me was calling Saban an idiot for playing Tagovailoa, not Mac Jones against LSU.

The person who wrote the post whether it was alcohol induced or not, is the idiot. Questioning the coach and the quarterback is simply retarded.

Tagovailoa made mistakes, but the junior from Hawaii played his tail off. He was healthy to start, end of story.

I saw another post where if Jalen Hurts stayed, he could’ve led the Crimson Tide past LSU.  That’s just silly.

Hurts went 26-2 as a starter for the Crimson Tide, but the current Oklahoma signal-caller failed to deliver in two title game trips.

In my opinion, Tagavailoa’s pass to Devonta Smith to beat Georgia for the 2017 national title is the greatest walk-off play ever.

Regardless what the national media thinks, Alabama will continue to chase for its 18th national title.
