Knight has previously served on the Arts Council as a visual arts program manager and the deputy director and served as the director of the Georgine Clark Alabama Artists Gallery.

Knight will be at the library discussing the book, “Alabama Creates: 200 Years of Art and Artists”.

Knight served as editor of the book while Gail Andrews, Director Emerita of the Birmingham Museum of Art, wrote the introduction and Al Head, Director Emeritus of the Alabama State Arts Council, wrote the preface.

Focusing on the history and story of the arts in the state, “Alabama Creates” is a collection of pictures and illustrations depicting the development of Alabama art and artists.

Told in four periods of 50 year spans, the narratives trace each era noting people, artifacts, museums and college art departments.

Copies of “Alabama Creates” will be sold before and after the event.
