A small tornado hit  Dallas County Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham.

The NWS sent a storm survey team to the area and saw a small area of storm damage caused by a small EF0 tornado

The tornado had winds estimated at 75 mph with a path 0.75 miles long, and 60 yards wide at its peak. The NWS reported that it was on the ground  for 2 minutes. The NWS also reported it had a small, brief rotation but the area wasn’t under a tornado warning at the time.

The storm struck about six miles west-northwest of Selma just after 4 p.m. Thursday, as witnesses  saw a tornado on the ground near County Road 214 north of U.S. Highway 80, near the Potter Station Community, just north of County Road 945 before crossing County Road 942.

No injuries were reported, but a home sustained damage when its carport was lifted off its supports. The house also had some roof damage and damage to its brick facade, loss of a window and damaged a car. Several trees were snapped and branches were downed along the tornado path.
