Four Selma residents pleaded guilty in unrelated cases to illegal possession of firearms this month, U.S. District Attorney Richard Moore announced Thursday.

George Armstead, 29, pled guilty to possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony on Sept. 14. The weapon is described as a Smith & Wesson, .40 caliber pistol and reported stolen sometime prior to May 22. Armstead said that he bought the firearm off the streets for $100.  His sentencing is set for Dec. 14.

Clarence Brenson, 25, pled guilty to possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony on Sept. 19. Brenson was in the passenger of a vehicle after a traffic stop for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle on June 2. As he exited the car, officers found a loaded Romarm/Cugir, model WSAR-10, 7.62 by39 caliber rifle on the floor board. His sentencing is set for Dec. 19.

Jermaine Butler, 27, pled guilty to possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony on Sept. 25.  He was stopped by police on May 25 as Dallas County deputies set up a random driver license checkpoint. Deputies saw a loaded rifle on the floorboard of the backseat. It was a Zastava, model N-PAP DF, 7.62 by 39 caliber rifle. His sentencing is set for Jan. 18.

Chadwick Blake, 31, pled guilty to possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony on Sept. 25. Alabama Parole Officer Daryl Bradford conducted a visit of Blake’s home on Oct. 24, 2017. He found a round of 9mm ammunition in Blake’s pocket.  Bradford arrested Blake for violating his probation.  Bradford then searched Blake’s residence and found a Taurus, model Millennium, G2, 9mm pistol. His sentencing is set for Jan. 8.
