Agape Community Economic Development Inc. is having a graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Beloved Apostolic Church of God.

Two different classes will be honored: senior citizen and Elocution.

The senior citizen class includes four members over the age of 80 and a 90-years-old.  Elocution is a group of nine kids who learned how to formally speak, pronunciation, grammar, style and tone.

Agape Vice President Cora Rankin is impressed with the senior class’ ability to learn at an advanced age.

“The senior citizens were involved with basic computer, health and nutrition, arts and crafts,” Rankin said. “I heard how happy they were to operate a computer and happy to come to class. It makes me happy seeing someone in their 90’s wanting to learn. Who knew 80-somethings were willing to learn? For them to have a mind to sit down and turn a computer, it’s rewarding to see.”

Rankin is pleased the youth class, between the ages of 10 and 18, were taught how to properly speak.

“We’re trying to get our young children how to speak clearly,” Rankin said. “We’re finding a lot of our youth aren’t able to do that. In today’s world of business, people don’t understand what they’re saying.”
