The Drug Task Force, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency SWAT team and Selma Police Department made two drug arrests on Thursday.

On the block of 211 Rosedale Avenue, Willie Gilchrist, 39, and Amber Martin, 25, were arrested for trafficking synthetic marijuana, unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Stolen hand guns, stolen motorcycles and stolen four-wheelers were also recovered by law enforcement.

At the block of 1706 Philpot Street, Joe Acoff, 35 and Danielle Martin, 33, were arrested for trafficking crack cocaine, cocaine and ecstasy pills.

At the bond hearing Friday at the Dallas County Courthouse, Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Bob Armstrong set the bond in both cases at one million on each of the four suspects.

“There’s an infectious poison that comes from selling drugs in the community,” Armstrong said. “It destroys the neighborhood. There needs to be a message sent to drug dealers. This type of behavior is extremely dangerous in our community. If you continue to act this way, there will be significant consequences.”

The preliminary hearing in both cases are at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Dallas County Courthouse.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, part of the Task Force, echoed the same statement.

“The gang crackdown that we have initiated in Selma will continue,” Jackson said. “We are going to sweep all of these criminals out of Selma with a big broom.”
