Countdown is on for Central Alabama Fair

The countdown to one of our favorite events of the year is less than a month away.

The Central Alabama Fair will start Monday Oct. 5 and will run through Saturday, Oct. 10. The Lion’s Club uses the fair as a fundraiser to help provide eye exams and glasses to the community. The fair is truly a fun event for all.

The rides, games and petting zoo keep people coming back year after year, but the fair has so much more to offer. Kids of all ages will flock to the cotton candy vendors and famous Cozy Dogs.

This year there will be a sing-off competition hosted by Dixie Country radio and pageants throughout the week.

The gates will open for the first time Monday, Oct. 5 at 5:20 p.m. and youth night is from 5:30 p.m. until closing with armbands for $15. The Miss Central Alabama Fair Pageant will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the Miss pageant at 7:30 p.m.

On Oct. 6, the gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the Young Miss Pageant will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the Junior Miss at 7:30 p.m.

Kids Day will be Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 2-8 p.m. Children can enter that day with just a canned item.

Gates open Thursday, Oct. 8 and all rides will be $1. On Saturday is the Lion’s Club family day and ride armbands will be $15. The Tiny Miss Central Alabama and Little Miss Pageant will be held that night.

Although it’s still a couple of weeks away, it’s not too early to get excited about the fair.
