Eyes of nation — and world — will again be on Selma

When it comes to Hollywood star power, there’s not much bigger than Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey. Add to that the increasingly critically acclaimed actor David Oyelowo, all under the director of a Sundance Film Festival award-winning director, and you have some massive star power.

Those are just a few of the personalities Selma can expect to see over the coming months as scenes of the upcoming movie ‘Selma’ are filmed in … where else … Selma.

But, just as we have said in reference to next year’s 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday events, what kind of Selma will these Hollywood elite find when they come.

It is our hope they find a city continuing to find ways to improve itself by developing downtown, repairing and restoring iconic buildings and finding ways to agree on problems, rather than picking sides and claiming victories in arguments better long forgotten.

Once again, the eyes of the nation — and the world — are about to be on Selma. What will they see when they take a closer look?
