In an effort to increase the reach of their services, beginning Thursday, June 13 the Dallas County Health Department will be offering Family Planning and Cancer Detection services every second Thursday of the month until 7 p.m.

Stacey Adams, communities coordinator for the health department, said the department will be offering these services during extended operating hours in an effort to better serve members of the community.

“With people’s busy schedules, we are just trying to better accommodate everyone,” Adams said. “We have received comments about needing to be more flexible, and that is what we are trying to do.”

Because services are provided regardless of ability to pay, any member of the community can take advantage of the birth control method information, medical exams, health screenings and several other services the Dallas County Health Department offers.

“If the demand exceeds the hours we have allocated, we will consider adding additional days and times to better serve the community,” Adams said.

Adams also encouraged people to schedule an appointment with the health department and stressed the importance of taking health prevention and treatment seriously.

“I hope we get a response,” Adams said. “It is just so important to see about your health and take advantage of the resources that are being offered in the community.”
