Oasis Bar and Grill will be flooded with crimson and a dash of fighting Irish pride Monday as the restaurant hosts a special viewing of the BCS National Championship game.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for patrons to watch Alabama take on Notre Dame and the first 50 to the party will be given a free “football fun pack” consisting of a hotdog, wings, fries and soft drink.

“It’ll be a good evening for everyone,” said Selma Mayor George Evans, who is partnering with Oasis for the event along with the rest of the Selma City Council. “There will be several big screens throughout the restaurant for people to watch the game.”

Oasis will also be featuring a special Monday night football menu with discounted prices.

Kesa Williams, assistant general manager of Oasis Bar and Grill, said wings, nachos, hot dogs, cheese sticks and fried pickles will all be offered at a discounted price.

“We’re having drink specials with $1.50 beer too,” Williams said. “Wings will be at a discounted 50 cents.” A mixed drink special will also be offered.

Evans said in the past the city has hosted the national championship viewing party at the Performing Arts Center.

“We’re hoping we can turn this into an annual event, whether or not an Alabama team is in the game,” Evans said. “It’s just a good way to start off the New Year, with friendship and fellowship.”

Williams said since Alabama is in the national championship game, she’s expecting a large number of residents to come out and watch the game at Oasis Bar and Grill.

“We put it out on Facebook and we sent out almost 400 invites,” she said. “Hopefully the crowd will come here to watch the game.”

And although the restaurant is expected to be dominated by crimson, both Evans and Williams said there will probably be some navy and gold in the crowd too.

“Everybody is an Alabama fan,” Williams said. “We may see a few blue shirts floating around though, but all in all it should be a pretty good event. I hope a lot of people come out.”
