Well, it’s official today. Only two candidates in the Ward 1 election: John Jowers and Tommy Atchison. It’ll be interesting to see what happens as far as campaigning goes. Jowers is an often-defeated, but never-give-up candidate. Atchison is a newcomer to local politics, but carries a good name.

Here’s the other deal. The U.S. Justice Department hasn’t given the official green light to the election scheduled for Sept. 28. Word from official sources is some complaints have been filed with the Justice Department, but those in the know don’t see any problems. Word should come down from Washington next week.
