John “Mike” Bell, 44, is in the Dallas County Jail on multiple charges after a methamphetamine warrant was executed by a joint task force, according to Dallas County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Randy Pugh.

“We got information that he was cooking meth,” said Pugh. “When we executed the search, we found him cooking.”

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the Selma Police Department and the Drug Task Force executed the warrant.

Dallas County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Roy Freine said when the task force arrived, Bell was cooking meth using a “shake and bake” or one-pot method to cook the meth.

Using the one-pot method means meth cooks can make meth in one sealed container, which is generally flipped upside down to cause the reaction needed to turn several toxic ingredients into the final product.

“When we got to the house, we were able to follow the smoke,” said Freine.

Bell was arrested and charged with trafficking meth, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful manufacturing of meth in the first degree, unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of a precursor chemical.

His total bond was set at $3,100,600.

Freine said five others were arrested in conjunction with Bell.

The incident report from Dallas County Jail has four others listed.

Sharon Chambers, Donna Mann and James Champion are currently in jail under the charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Each is being held on $50,000 bond.

Susan Sparkman, also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
