NEWTON, William Newell “Bill”, 56, of Valrico, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2008, in Tampa, FL. Bill was born in Lakeland, FL on May 15, 1952 and was raised in Selma, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John L. Newton and Scott N. Newton. Dr. Newton was the former pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Selma. He is survived by his wife, Susan Miller Newton; step-son, James A. Deason, III, Navarre, FL; his beloved, Sophie; brother, Charles Newton, Marietta, GA; sisters, Margaret (William) Waterstradt, Montreat, NC and Ellis (Edward) Ellis, Tampa, FL and many nieces and nephews that will miss their “Uncle Bill”. His love for life affected everyone he met. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Selma with Dr. Ron Stone presiding.
