Polls open 7 a.m. Tuesday

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. statewide Tuesday, June 1, for the Democratic and Republican primaries.

In Dallas County, the slate is filled with local candidates for seats in the Alabama Legislature, district attorney, district judge, sheriff and the Democratic executive committee.

Voters are asked to go to their polling places and be prepared to produce identification to vote.

Te Alabama Secretary of State’s Office says a current valid photo identification includes a government-issued photo identification current and valid; employee identification for employee with the photo of employee produced by the employer; issued by an Alabama college or university or from an Alabama technical or professional school currently valid.

Other acceptable voter’s identification is a utility bill with the voter’s name and address; bank statement; government check; pay check; valid identification card issued by the State of Alabama; valid identification card issued by any of the other 49 states; valid identification card issued by the U.S. government; a valid U.S. passport; valid Alabama hunting license or fishing license; valid Alabama pistol/revolver permit; valid pilot’s license issued by the FAA or other authorized federal government agency; valid U.S. military identification; certified copy of birth certificate; valid Social Security card; naturalization document certified; certified copy of adoption or record of name change; valid Medicaid card; valid Medicare card; valid electronic benefits transfer card; document for government showing name and address of the voter.
