Deacon Eddie Lee Wells, Sr.

Deacon Eddie Lee Wells, Sr., 71, of Selma, Alabama (Dallas County), died October 1, 2009 at his residence. Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 12:00 PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Johnny Wells. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.

Grady Cecil O’Shields, age 88, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away October 6, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. and Lottie Mae O’Shields, brother, Robert O’Shields and granddaughter-in-law, Charity Williamson.

He is survived by his wife, Juliette O’Shields; daughters, Diane (Ronnie) Williamson and Carolyn Vandiviere; grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Thompson, Timothy (Vicki) Williamson and Brian Williamson; great-grandchildren, Faith Williamson, Peyton Williamson, Landen Williamson, Justin Bone and Brentin Littleton; brothers, David O’Shields of Selma, AL and Lavone O’Shields of Smyrna, GA and sisters, Dorothy Bartlett and Ruth Hicks all of Selma, AL.

Graveside services will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Charles Sullivan officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Brian Williamson, Tim Williamson, Jason Thompson, Ed Chance, T. E. Wright and Jimmy Golden.

Mr. O’Shields was a U. S. Army Veteran and served in World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal. American Theater Ribbon, Marksmanship Medal, World War II Victory Medal and European, African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon.

Mrs. Nell C. Logan

Mrs. Nell C. Logan, 85, of Augusta, GA, wife of Graham A. Logan, Jr., entered into rest Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Medical College of Georgia.

Mrs. Logan was native of Selma, AL but lived in Augusta for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker and the bride of a U.S. Army officer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, Augusta Women’s Club, Augusta Garden Club, and many other organizations. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Family members in addition to her husband include her sons: Graham C. Logan and wife Deborah, James Logan and wife Elaine; grandchildren: Jennifer Cornett, Jason Logan, Graham Logan, Melissa Petronovich, Kimberly Warren, Elizabeth Logan, Ashley Logan; and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Dr. C. Gregory Deloach III officiating.

Ms. Emma U. Bennett, 97, of Marion, AL, died October 7, 2009 at Southland Nursing Home. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.
