Selma’s most famous Avon lady will once again be opening her home to public as a special holiday treat for her many fans and admirers.

This marks Mira Dawson’s 20th year as an independent marketing representative for a company primarily known for its extensive line of beauty products.

Yet there is so much more to Avon besides make-up and lotions, as evidenced by the hundreds of products on display in her Water Avenue home.

For those few who have not yet seen Dawson’s &uot;Avon Fan Club&uot; house, it is a sight unlike any other. Nearly every room, including the gardens outside, is a special tribute to the 117-year-old company that made its fortune from door-to-door sales.

From the porcelain dolls to place settings, all of it has been collected from Avon catalogs since the 1980s.

This year, Dawson will be unveiling a new portrait that has never before been seen by the public.

Visitors on the holiday tour can also expect to see Christmas decorations throughout the house and outside.

As always, Dawson says she will be dressed in her Victorian-period attire.

The Avon house has been featured in numerous publications and received plenty of praise from company executives.

Lately, the Avon representative has been spending a majority of her time in Montgomery trying to kick-start her new business as a hat designer and interior decorator.

As a woman known for her extensive hat collection almost as well as her creativity, this new career might be a perfect fit.

A few of her hats will be on display amid the Avon exhibits inside the home.

The holiday tour is scheduled for Dec. 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $2 per person.

The Avon Home is located at 37 Water Avenue.
