Calhoun, Southside split two

LETOHATCHEE — Southside split a pair of basketball games Friday at Calhoun, with the Lady Panthers winning 47-46, while the Calhoun boys won 67-65.

For the Southside girls, Keyria Miles — the only senior on the team — led all scorers with 15 points in the Lady Panthers’ first victory. Takari Nelson followed with 13 points, then came Lakesha Thomas with 10.

The Calhoun girls were led by Shanice Williams with 14.

The Southside girls are 1-1 on the season.

Southside’s Terrance Cooper led all scorers in the boys’ game with 21 points as the Panthers fell to 0-2 on the season. Demarcus Smith and Alfred Davis tossed in 16 points apiece for Southside.

Leading the Calhoun boys was Nicholas Seawright with 20; Rodrecious Bibb added 18.

Southside plays host to Francis Marion next Friday night, followed by Calhoun on Saturday.

(G) Selma 59, Keith 40: Keisha Moore scored 20 points to lead Selma over Keith. Janishia Jackson pitched in 11 for the Lady Saints (4-2).

Carneshia Jackson led the Keith scorers with 16 points.

Selma goes to Lee-Montgomery on Tuesday night in its next action.
