After having their first game of the week rained out, the Lady Senators took the court Thursday afternoon and cruised to a two-game lead over their opponents from Cecil, the Macon-East Lady Knights. Thinking the match was over the Lady Senators were set to head to the locker room.
But, after discussion, the match was changed to a best-of-five series.
The result shifted the momentum in the favor of the squad from Cecil as they posted back-to-back game wins, 25-22 and 26-24, forcing a game five.
In the fifth set the goal is to reach 15 and that’s just what the Lady Senators did, beating the Lady Knights 15-10.
Several times during the five-game match, both the Lady Senators and the Lady Knights had extended volleys before a point was scored.
Nichols also highlighted the play of her seniors.
In the best-of-three junior varsity match, Morgan claimed the match by winning 2-1.
The Lady Senators won the first game 25-18, lost the second 25-20 and then rallied to win the third 25-20.
