The Atmore Police Department arrested a Selma man on a theft charge on June 20.
Derrick Harris, 45, was charged with first-degree theft by deception, according to Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann. McCann said the arrest stems after APD officers were contacted by a local business concerning multiple orders of tires totaling several thousand dollars.
“The business owner was contacted by an out-of-state resident whose credit card information had been stolen,” McMann said in a release. “The business owner advised the officer that the suspect had just made an order and would be picking up the tires later in the afternoon.”
McMann said officers returned at approximately 1 p.m. and contacted Harris, detained and arrested him. McCann said more charges would be coming and Harris was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
