An Editorial Opinion by The Selma Times-Journal

The Selma-Dallas County Public Library closed its annual “Lunch at Library Series” for the 2023-24 year on May 2.

We were impressed with the unique mix of guest speakers executive director Becky Nichols produced twice a month on Thursdays at noon, ranging from an interior decorator to the Alabama Audubon executive director. The audience also enjoyed the guest speakers because they always filled the room.

The audience was not just limited to retired workers. Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce executive director Sheryl Smedley, Morgan Academy director of operations Karim Oaks, and ArtsRevive president Ruth Talton also attended some of the events showing their support.

Nichols deemed the series a success and so do we. Nichols said the series resumes in September.

We look forward to its return, and we would encourage more of these type events to happen in Selma. The more lectures, events and other activities we have in Selma and Dallas County, the better it is for everyone.
